I've hosted dozens of events including panels, presentations, one-on-one interviews, and readings at Melbourne cultural institutions such as the Wheeler Centre and ACMI, led Q&A nights at Cinema Nova and at screenings of films such as 'Drift' (where I interviewed/led the audience discussion with the film's stars Myles Pollard, Xavier Samuel, Aaron Glenane, and Sam Worthington) and 'I Give It A Year' (interviewing Rose Byrne).
I've spoken at or hosted events at the Melbourne Writers Festival, the Emerging Writers Festival and Melbourne's Face The Music conference, and guest lectured at Victoria University, RMIT, and University Of Melbourne about writing for the internet.
I've launched books such as Benjamin Law's "The Family Law" for Black Inc and Sleepers Almanac for Sleepers Publishing, and appeared as both a guest & host at the Women Of Letters monthly salon.
One time The Project needed a barren unmarried thirtysomething year old woman to provide a charming response to a Herald Sun survey which revealed many barren unmarried thirtysomething year old women are having nervous breakdowns, and once I finished quietly sobbing over the fact that the first person The Project thought of to appear on TV to talk about this particular topic was ol' Empty Womb McGee over here, I definitely did a perfectly acceptable job of sitting in front of a green screen bantering with a camera whilst trying desperately to hear what Hughesy & Co were saying in my ear piece. Should I mention my "television experience" here? Or should I pretend it never happened?
OH I nearly forgot. I also got cast as a DJ at a lesbian bar in Offspring, so, you know. *checks nails*
ANYWAY if you're thinking, "Hmm this lady sounds EXPERIENCED when it comes to hosting things, by jingoes I'd like her to host MY upcoming event!" then come on son, shoot me an email at firstname.lastname@example.org and let's talk turkey.
